A reel good time at Amsterdam family cinema festival
Families looking to keep the children quiet in the Netherlands this autumn could take them to the Cinekid Festival.The festival, taking place on October 22nd to 29th in Amsterdam, features a range of entries from the world of film, television and new media - celebrating children's entertainment from around the world.
Each year it invites 30,000 children to attend 200 of the media productions shown at the festival, including TV series, short plays, feature films and documentaries.
The festival also runs a highly competitive film competition featuring 15 films from around the world, running in parallel with a number of other programmes to keep kids entertained with a wide variety of films.
In addition, the festival plays host to children's television from both the Netherlands and the rest of the world, with directors and actors attending screenings to answer questions from children.
Finally, new media programmes at the festival allow kids to try out the latest games, interactive cd-rom and online tools designed especially with them in mind.
All in all, the CineKid is a great celebration of children's entertainment.
