Berlin Festival of Lights ushers in winter
As the nights grow longer and the mercury steadily drops, Berlin's annual Festival of Lights is set to prepare the city for winter in style.

From October 13th to the 19th, Berlin will shimmer and shine like no other city.

The German capital will light up its many beautiful boulevards, squares, towers and historical buildings, not to mention its gamut of modern new architectural masterpieces.

Unter den Linden and Kurfurstendamm will be among the graceful boulevards that are illuminated and Alexander Platz, Berlin's City Halls, the cutting-edge Kranzler buildings, the Dom Aquaree and of course the historically significant Brandenburg Gate will all benefit from a makeover of light.

The festival will be organised by themes, such as "Berlin's famous boulevards", "the towers of Berlin" and the "squares of Berlin".

To formally open the festival, Berlin will hold the Kick-Off Light Festival which will see the TV tower at Alexander Platz symbolically set alight.
