Brussels set for Sablon Nights

Brussels set for Sablon Nights
Brussels has plenty to offer the discerning traveller, but for those who really want to get to know the Belgian capital, experiencing the Sablon Nights festival is a great way to do it.

The three-day-long event takes place towards the end of November each year and gives visitors a unique horse-drawn tour of one of the most beautiful and culture-rich areas of Brussels.

Sablon is well known for its antiques quarter and an array of jewellery shops and art galleries can also be found in this charming part of the city, reports travel service whatsonwhen.

The music of Mozart provides the theme for the 2006 instalment of Sablon Nights which gets underway on November 24th.

New Year is also a great time to visit Sablon as it plays host to a series of light shows and traditional celebrations.

The Belgian travel network explains that the Sablon area became enclosed within Brussels' city walls after becoming increasingly populated during the 14th century and that in recent years it has become "one of the most prestigious and attractive areas in Brussels".
