Experience the craic at the Scotsman Bay Oyster Festival
The festival, which takes place each September in Glasthule Village, combines a love of good food with Irish music and live jazz, window displays, street performers and even best dressed competitions.
In previous years the festival has begun with the Oyster Queen arriving by horse drawn carriage to the East Pier. After the official opening, a wide selection of prawns and oysters can be bought from a marquee at the Eagle House, remaining open for the rest of the festival.
On the evening and over the weekend a variety of Irish acts entertain visitors, with music from Paul Ashton and his band Stepaside having entertained revellers in past years.
The James Joyce Tower provides a venue for the festival's jazz shows, while Fitzgerald's gives a great backdrop for traditional Irish dancing.
Although dates and events for 2006 have yet to be announced, this year Oyster festival is sure to be the best yet.
