Festive delights in Brussels
For a true taste of Christmas on the continent visitors could be advised to visit Brussels this winter.

Starting every December, the city is transformed into a winter wonderland as Grand Place hosts a daily spectacular light and sound show.

Meanwhile, the annual Winter Wonders festival sees the launch of a Christmas market made up of 240 wooden chalets, around the Bourse (stock exchange), Place Sainte Catherine and the fish market, where visitors will be able to pick up a variety of goods.

In addition there are also performances by brass bands, street artists and choirs, not to mention a funfair featuring a big wheel, roundabouts and a carousel.

Those looking to get their skates on, meanwhile, will be able to head out on to the 60-metre long ice skating rink.

For a fantastic short break in Brussels at any time of the year, tourists should take the time to visit the Royal Palace and the stunning St Gudule and St Michael's Cathedral.
