Go medieval in Arles

Go medieval in Arles
Fans of the medieval era should head down to the south of France this summer for the medieval festival of Arles-sur-Tech.

The festival, which takes place in the village of the same name on August 19th-20th, brings the world of the medieval era to the town, with sounds, smells and sights of the period to tourists and locals alike.

The festival is marked by colourful costumes, musical shows and jesters, as well as relics from the town's history, with 500 people dressed to stir the atmosphere of medieval Arles-sur-Tech.

Visitors will get to see the old town swarming with beggars, lepers, ragged men and thieves, while the medieval market will display a selection of items such as medieval woollen clothes, pottery and even wood carving. Tourists can even join in and try their at blacksmithery.

The villages churches also hold concerts, while on Saturday a banquet takes place in the town centre.

For a taste of something different, and a little more than traditional, this summer, Arles-sure-Tech is sure to provide it.
