Stars line up for Blackpool Illuminations
As the annual spectacular that is the Blackpool Illuminations gets closer to turning on the power it has been announced that comic Peter Kay and TV presenter Dale Winton will share the honours of flicking the switch.

Announcing the line up, tourism director Jane Seddon told Blackpool Today: "We've got a strong line-up in the switch-on concert through our close working relationship with BBC Radio 2 and now we have not one but two big show business names to launch the Illuminations.

"Peter Kay, a northern lad, is a big fan of Blackpool and Dale Winton is known by everyone who plays the National Lottery."

Colin Asplin, president of the Blackpool Hotel and Guest House Association, also told Blackpool Today: "Peter Kay is a real crowd puller and he has been a real friend of Blackpool over the years. It is a fantastic choice"

Offering a night of entertainment for all the family, in addition to Kay and Winton the Zutons will be performing in the Radio 2 arena and ex-Boyzone heart-throb Ronan Keating will be performing his new single Iris.
Cabinet member for tourism and regeneration in Blackpool councillor Eddie Collett said: "The long-term collaboration between BBC Radio 2 and Blackpool Tourism has provided visitors to Blackpool with some excellent Switch On Shows, and this 2006 line-up is no exception."
