Liverpool's brilliant Brouhaha festival
Kicking off every July, the festival starts with a concert at the Liverpool Philharmonic Concert Hall before launching a three week marathon of arts and cultural events.
One not-to-be-missed aspect of the festival is the Liverpool International Carnival in which colourfully dressed revellers wind their way from the city centre through the Toxteth region before heading towards Princes Park.
Meanwhile, music fans may wish to attend the Liverpool Mela which in the past has hosted a variety of international and local acts including reggae songstress Dawn Penn.
Families will also be able to take part in a number of craft workshops and cross-community art projects.
There will also be the chance to sample food from across the world.
However, for a slightly less active break in the city, tourists may wish to stop off at the Tate Liverpool art gallery located at the Albert Dock.
