London Film Festival hits the 50 mark
The stars will once again be out in force in the English capital as London celebrates a half century of film festivals.

Showcasing established and emerging talent from the glamorous world of movies, The Times 50th BFI London Film Festival boasts four world premieres and 32 European premieres.

In total, 181 feature films and 131 shorts will be screened at a host of venues across the city between October 18th and November 2nd.

By way of celebration of its 50-year landmark, the festival will also feature an outdoor live-mix screening entitled A Portrait of London: Trafalgar Square.

Robert Thomson, editor of newspaper The Times, commented: "The range and quality of the work gathered for the festival is extraordinary.

"There is no doubt that London's claim to being the world's most important and inclusive film festival has been enhanced. Given the riches on display, my advice is to book early," he added.

The event is organised primarily to give visitors and Londoners an opportunity to view films which might not otherwise be screened in the UK.
