York street is anything but shambolic
The most visited street in Europe, Shambles in York should be an essential stop off for any visitor to the city.

Offering a variety of independent food outlets and shops selling various goods including jewellery, woodcraft and stamps, the cobbled street is bound have to something catered for everyone.

Meanwhile, those wanting a more unusual souvenir can visit Past Images where visitors can have their photograph taken as they dress up in a variety of authentic period costumes such as fairies, knights and royal princesses.

The street also features a shrine to martyr Margaret Clitherow who lived on the Yorkshire street before her death for being a Catholic in 1586, who was later made a saint in 1970.

Shambles is also a frequent stop-off for the numerous ghost walks which operate through the city where experts guide visitors around buildings rumoured to be haunted.

And its central location and proximity to other York attractions such as the Minster means that taking a stride through Shambles could not be easier during a trip to York.
