A city steeped in grandeur, tourists taking a ferry to Ireland to visit Dublin are sure to find taking in its numerous historic sites something which is both easy and enjoyable to do.

However, for an attraction that is firmly sat in the here and now, the Museum of Modern Art is certain to be the place for you.

Housed in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, one of the finest 17th century buildings in the country, the museum contains more than 4,500 works from sculptures to paintings by both Irish and international artists.

Among those with pieces on display in the museum's permanent collection include Damien Hirst, Willie Doherty, Francesco Clemente and Kathy Prendergast.

Meanwhile, temporary exhibitions in the past have included works by Japanese and Indian artists.

There are also a number of guided tours and lectures, in addition to a cafe and bookshop.

Various other Dublin attractions include the Chester Beatty Library and Temple Bar Trad festival.
