And with the event showcasing productions ranging from independent flicks and major motion pictures to documentaries and short films, budding Steven Spielbergs and Sam Raimis are certain to find something for them.
There will also be a range of lectures and workshops helping prospective filmmakers to hone their skills.
In addition, there is a variety of events catered towards children.
However, the festival is not the be-all and end-all of a culture-crammed visit in Cork.
Visitors should also stop by the Crawford Art Gallery which showcases some stunning 18th century Irish art, pieces by Picasso and William Leech as well as a replica model of the city.
