Savour the sights at Calais' Saint-Hubert festival
Visitors to the French region of Nord-Pas de Calais towards the end of October can take in one of the most traditional and colourful sights around, as a local town hosts its annual Saint-Hubert Festival.

Surroundings are simply spectacular at Bailleul-Mont des Cats, where nearby valleys provide the ideal backdrop as the events, including a full-costume equestrian presentation and riding competitions unfold.

The hillside is considered by many to be the perfect vantage point from which to watch the time-honoured local festivities.

Taking place this year on Saturday October 21st the Saint-Hubert Festival is, as ever, free of charge.

As the closest point to the UK Calais is well known to Brits travelling abroad by ferry, but with a dramatic history and plenty of attractions of its own, the northern French town is a great place to visit and spend time in.
