Fans of all things with wheels could be well advised to stop by Glasgow's Museum of Transport while on a break in the Scottish city.

From horse-drawn carriages and prams to caravans and motorcycles, visitors will be able to get a wonderful sense of the history behind all forms of land-based transport.

Particular highlights include a collection of Scottish-built cars and the oldest surviving pedal cycle in the world.

Meanwhile, there are some 250 models of famous ships including the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth II.

In addition, tourists can take in displays covering the city's railway heritage.

And with the attraction drawing in about 500,000 visitors every year, those wanting to take in the fantastic array of exhibits may wish to get up early to beat the queues.

Those on a short break in Scotland should also check out the People's Palace history museum which documents the changing lives of Glaswegians over the years and the Glasgow Comedy Festival.
