Festive Amsterdam Parade

Festive Amsterdam Parade

Amsterdam parade to ring in.

There is no finer time of year to visit Amsterdam than around the festive period as the city plays host to a range of celebratory events.

One winter highlight in the Netherlands's most visited city is the much-loved parade to herald the arrival of Santa Claus and the start of the Sinterklaas Season, the Saint Nicholas website explains.

Sinterklaas will arrive in Amsterdam on November 19th in 2006 and church bells will ring around the city as the mayor bids him welcome and a spectacular parade gets underway.

The Dutch tradition will again come to life with a host of colourful floats and music from some local brass bands.

Rightly known as one of the most colourful cities in the world, Amsterdam hosts a number of events themed around its famous flowers throughout the year.

Also boasting some of the very best art galleries and museums in Europe, any time is a good time to visit Amsterdam.
