Tourists looking for a barrel of laughs while on a break in Scotland may wish to visit Glasgow.

The news comes as the city hosts its annual International Comedy Festival, which is sure to crack a smile among even the most hard-faced people.

Every March, the Scottish city sees a variety of comic performances ply their trade in venues across the city such as King's Theatre, Grosvenor Cinema, Stand Comedy Club and the Garage.

In the past the festival has witnessed performances from comedians such as Russell Howard, Jimmy Carr, Russell Brand and legendary comic duo Cannon & Ball.

There are also a number of events created specifically for children, such as film screenings and puppet-making workshops.

For more comic capers during a break in Scotland, visitors may also wish to check out the Edinburgh Fringe Festival which in the past has hosted performers such as Steve Coogan, Rowan Atkinson and Al Murray.
