Budapest hosts annual festival
Each August the city of Budapest comes alive with a busy cultural and music festival that attracts visitors from across the world.
The Hungarian capital, dramatically located on the River Danube, hosts the week-long Sziget Festival every summer on a pretty island in the river.
With almost 1,000 entertainment programmes taking place across 60 venues, there is a dazzling array of events to choose from on the island alongside eight days of continuous music.
The festival features an array of different music stages, including jazz and world music, theatre, dance, street performance, sports contests and contemporary arts, providing the 200,000 attendees with something to suit all interests.
Charming Obudai-sziget (Old Buda Island) in the Danube is located in downtown Budapest, with lively restaurants, bars, shops and other amenities.
