For a fantastic break in Lille, tourists could be well advised to check out the citadelle.
Located just on the edge of the French city's central district, the star-shaped fort was originally built to help defend the country against the Spanish empire in the 17th century.
And now although most of it has been demolished, the structure's remains set in woodland provide a lovely backdrop for tourists to take in the beautiful city during a leisurely stroll.
Meanwhile, the zoo, located in the gardens surrounding the citadelle, features a variety of animals which are sure to provide tons of family fun.
Visitors can observe a host of creatures including zebras, ostriches and rhinoceroses.
However, there are plenty of other activities to get involved in for those on a lovely break in Lille.
Tourists may wish to stop by the Charles de Gaulle museum and the Place du General de Gaulle square.
