Dublin Castle

Dublin Castle

Dublin's dramatic castle.

Visitors to Dublin could take advantage of the city's castle, which offers a number of attractions.

These include tours of the state apartments, the gothic revival chapel and the undercroft - which was used to supply goods to the castle from boats that had been moored on the Liffey river, according to the castle's official website.

Still used for official functions, the state apartments were the centre for both politics and high fashion, and are now used to host the events related to the EU presidency and other "prestigious functions".

The Chapel Royal offers high-vaulted gothic architecture and a number of coasts of arms linked with the Justiciars, who are the heads of royal judicial systems.

Those wishing to visit the castle can do so on weekdays between 10:00 and 16:45 BST and between 14:00 and 16:45 BST on weekends and other public holidays.

Charges for guided tours are €4.50 (£3) for adults, €3.50 for students and senior citizens and €2.00 for children under 12 years old.
