Edinburgh draws thousands with annual tattoo
The event draws huge audiences of over 200,000 people to the distinctive castle atop the famous hill, which over the course of the year is Britain's second most visited tourist attraction.
Of course, anyone can tune in and join the 100 million or so people who watch the annual celebration on their television sets, but making the journey to experience the show live is, for many, the thrill of a lifetime.
Around 70 per cent of the audience in attendance at the 2007 tattoo – set to take place between August 3rd and 25th - will again be from outside Scotland's borders.
The international flavour of the spectacular showcase is not confined to the stands; since the tattoo began 50 years ago, more than 40 countries have been represented through a traditional performance.
