Festive shopping in Hungary
Starting every November and lasting right up until Christmas Eve, the event - which is held in Vorosmarty Square - allows both tourists and locals alike the opportunity to purchase some splendid festive gifts.
And with many of the numerous items on sale being crafted by hand, visitors can be sure that they will walk away from the market with some unique presents.
There are also a wide variety of folk-inspired arts and crafts products available to buy.
However, there is much more than just shopping to do at the market, with visitors also being able to take in a vast number of fantastic stage shows ranging from folk music to puppetry.
According to officials, the Christmas market is the Hungarian city's largest attraction outside of the main tourist season, so those looking to avoid the crowds may be well advised to arrive in Budapest early.
Those on a break in the city should also consider visiting the Hungarian National Museum and City Park.
