Gardaland offers a great family day out

Families who want to take their kids on a trip they'll remember could do worse than Gardaland, in Northern Italy.

Located in the Verona region, Gardaland is Italy's equivalent of Alton Towers - boasting 38 roller coasters, a variety of family attractions and even a dolphin park to boot. In 2004 the park has seen annual attendance of over three million.

Rides include the Sequoia Adventure, a roller coaster which throws its riders over tight loops and is said to give a feeling of flying, spinning ride Ikarus, and Escape from Atlantis - a water-ride with some of the highest drops in Europe.

Recently the park opened its Gardaland Theatre, able to seat 1,200 people. The venue play's host to the park's Broadway Celebration, taking place between now and September 10th, featuring some of the greatest American musicals from the second half of the 20th century.

"The staging and lighting and video effects draw the audience into the action, while the costumes and faithful make-up and hair styling steal the show; there are no less than 160 costume changes with choreography by Fabrizio Angelici and Irina Vertiaguina," the park says.

All in all, Gardaland makes for a great day out for kids and adults alike.
