Glasgow looks up its 'Celtic Connections'.

Spectacular traditional shows still draw the crowds in Scotland and one of the most popular events of its kind anywhere in the UK takes place in Glasgow during January each year.

Celtic Connections is a much-loved festival which comprises around 200 separate activities and boasts some of the biggest names in traditional music, along with a host of aspiring young talents.

Regularly attracting crowds totalling over 100,000, previous performers have included Bob Geldof, Sinead O'Connor and the Dubliners, reports travel service whatsonwhen.

In addition to the festival's mainstay of musical performances, a number of lectures and workshops have been arranged for the annual event.

More people live in Glasgow than in any other city in Scotland and there is always plenty going on at any time of year.
