Lille's latest cultural event gets underway
The Indian-themed cultural exchange season got underway on October 14th and a wide range of events to celebrate all that's good about the Asian country's cuisine, cinema and rich cultural traditions will be running through until January 14th.
Of course, there are plenty of other good reasons to visit Lille as the nine million or so people who made trip during 2004 will no doubt have discovered.
The city has a wealth of cultural history, demonstrated by an array of architectural styles, some splendid art galleries and the largest museum outside of Paris.
And while in Lille, visitors can get a taste of northern France at a local market where some of the best regional food and drink can be found.
The British city of Liverpool is to take over the mantle of European Capital of Culture in 2008.
