Notting Hill Carnival, London

Notting Hill Carnival, London

London comes alive with Notting Hill Carnival.

Every year thousands of people take to the streets of London to witness the Notting Hill Carnival.

Taking place over the August bank holiday weekend, thousands of floats, dancers and street performers wind their way through the capital in a procession of colour and music.

On the Saturday the traditional Panorama contest takes place, featuring steelpan bands from across the capital.

Meanwhile, Sunday is Children's Day offering a shorter route for children and young people before the main parade takes place on Monday.

With a variety of Caribbean music such as calypso and soca on display from both live bands and sound systems, the festival is sure to be able to cater to those wanting to dance in the streets.

Also not to be missed are the many brightly coloured costumes worn by the 'carnivalists' and various traditional Caribbean foods which can be sampled.
