Marathon to be held in Florence
Held on November 25th this year, the 24th International Marathon of Florence starts in Piazzale Michelangelo and is one of the top 20 international marathons.
Both men's and women's events are held as part of the annual marathon, as well as a special mini-race (Ginky Run) for children, and crowds of spectators turn out each year to watch the participants go by.
More than 7,000 athletes have registered to take part in the marathon this year, following a beautiful course that takes them past some of Florence's most spectacular treasures, including the Ponte alla Vittoria, Piazza della Repubblica and the finish line at Piazza Santa Croce.
Visitors to Florence during November can also attend the bustling international Festival dei Popoli (Festival of the People) in the city, which showcases a broad range of documentary cinema from across the globe.
Taking place at venues across Florence between November 16th and 22nd, the festival features debates, screenings and analysis, with leading documentary film-makers and experts scheduled to attend.
