Rome's new year sees fashion in vogue.
Major players in the fashion world and interested observers of all things trend setting will once again descend on Rome in the new year as the AltaRomaAltaModa opens.
The biannual event showcases some of the finest Italian fabrics in the traditional high fashion shows and becomes even more elaborate during the "experimental" garment exhibits.
In addition to these exhibits, which organisers explain fall somewhere between art and show business, up and coming fashion designers get the chance to wow the crowds with the latest creations.
The first AltaRomaAltaModa gets underway on January 28th and runs until January 31st, if you miss it you'll have to wait for July when the summer show starts.
For future brides, the Eternal City can offer all could wish for in January, when the city's annual wedding dress exhibition is also taking place.
If art is more to your cultural taste than fashion then there is plenty for you to enjoy in Rome, where works by masters like Caravaggio, Michelangelo and Raphael can be found in the many galleries.
