Totnes festival keeps summer alive
The festival has been organised to attract late season visitors to the town and reports indicate it is doing just that.
"We are getting the media coverage we hoped we would get and we are getting London interest, and interest from outside the county, as far as Wessex," Tom Maughan, vice-chairman of the organising committee told Kingsbridge Today.
"The objective of the festival is to attract out-of-season tourists to Totnes. Ticket sales are good at the present moment and they are going to look better in a week or two's time."
Kicking off the festival is the Tango Cafe which lasts from 10:00 to 22:00 BST at the Mansion.
Meanwhile, over at the Ariel Centre The New Rope String Band takes to the stage at 19:30 BST.
Over the entire ten days more than 80 events have been scheduled covering areas such as food, environment and the arts. There's even a chance for a top busker to win themselves a guaranteed place at next year's Glastonbury festival.
