Trot along to Verona Horse Fair
Horse-lovers, professionals and curious onlookers alike are welcome at the celebration of all things equestrian, which was first held way back in 1898 and has exploded in popularity from its modest beginnings as a simple horse exhibition to become the biggest fair of its kind in the country.
One of the main attractions of the four-day event is the FEI World Cup Showjumping tournament - which routinely attracts sporting professionals from across the equestrian industry - but a host of other activities such as Western-style skills tests and American breed showings are also on offer.
There is even a Spanish horse area with performances of flamenco-themed riders sat atop impressive Andalusian horses, while for those travelling with younger siblings there are a number of under-12 activities to keep them busy such as gymkhana competitions and a cartoon corner.
For people planning to spend time in the region another popular activity might be the Soave Nativity Scene, held annually in the town's stunning 14th-century Palazzo del Capitano.
