Tiergarten Schonbrunn Zoo, Vienna
Vienna's historic zoo.
Animal lovers wanting a bit of history while away on a break in Europe need look no further than Vienna.
Located in the grounds of the Schonbrunn Palace, the Tiergarten Schonbrunn zoo - which is the oldest in the world - offers a wide variety of creatures for wildlife fans to see.
With African elephants, jaguars and giant pandas some of the animals on show visitors are bound for an exotic experience, while those wanting a more aquatic-based visit to the Vienna zoo can view sea lions, piranhas and Archer fishes.
Tourists can also ride through the gardens on the Panorama Train which lasts about 50 minutes and stops off at nine stations.
Meanwhile, those wanting a souvenir of the day can stop off at the Wild Republic store which offers more than 2,000 gifts.
However, as merchandise focuses on those species at threat from extinction, items bought from the shop help to support international zoo organisations and captive breeding programmes.
So for a zany zoo visit why not take a trip to Tiergarten Schonbrunn in Vienna?
